Basic Race day procedure at an EMRA meeting.

1.    Ensure you have done all the things listed above.

2.    Once you are satisfied everything is in order your next step is to go the Scrutineering bay, taking your bike, leathers, gloves, helmet, identification tag and Technical inspection card. Your bike should have the relevant race numbers and backgrounds on by this time. The Technical inspector will sign your card to say he has seen your bike and other items.

3.    As soon as everything has been inspected you need to "sign on", this is done in the Race Secretary's office (at Mallory Park, the tall grey building at the top of the paddock). Before doing this you will need to sign the inside of the Technical inspection card. You will need to take your ACU road race licence (for the current year), Technical inspection card and if you are under 18, a person who is allowed to sign as either your parent, legal guardian or who is responsible for you.

4.    In the office, once your paperwork has been checked and as long as it is all in order the staff will give you; a) a programme of the days events, b) a set of supplementary regulations/final instructions relating to the day (please take the time to read it), c) a practice pass which you will need to be able to take part in the practice session held before you commence racing.

5.    Once all this has been done in the office you will be ready to take part in the meeting. To enable you to be allowed out on to the circuit you will have to present your practice pass to the Assembly area marshal who will take it from you before he lets you out. You are required to do at least one practice session to be able to race on the day (see ACU Handbook 2008).

6.    Racing. You will be called via the tannoy in the paddock when you are expected to make your way to the assembly area for your race. At the assembly area  you will be marked off against the list of riders for that race and given a sticker which will show your grid position.  Make you way round to the starting grid when allowed to do so.

7.    On the grid you will take up your position as per your sticker. You will normally have one sighting/warm up lap and finish back on the grid, once again taking up your grid position. Once the grid has formed and the Officials are satisfied everything is in order the Starter will be given permission to start the race. The RED lights will come on and after a short delay will be switched off, this is when the race begins, if you move from your position before the lights go off you will probably receive a time penalty from the Officials for a "jump start".

8.    At all times obey the FLAGS you see and also any instructions given by Officials of the Meeting.

YOU ARE NOW GOING RACING! GOOD LUCK

YOU ARE NOT ADVISED TO COMPETE IN A MEETING IF YOU HAVE NOT BROUGHT A RESPONSIBLE PERSON WITH YOU IN CASE OF EMERGENCY!
